Police Track Down Suspect in Girlfriend Abuse Case via Transaction Records
Police have arrested Taufik Hidayat (30), the perpetrator of the confinement and abuse of his girlfriend, YTT (29), over a period of three years in Bandung, West Java. The suspect’s flight was detected through a number of transactions he made.
Taufik was detected making several transactions in the Majalaya area this morning. This data was then monitored by police until the perpetrator was finally arrested this afternoon.
“This morning we were already in Majalaya, tracking what he was doing. For your information, this morning the individual made several transactions, which became a lead for us,” said West Java Police Chief, Inspector General Rudi Setiawan.
Police maintained a presence around the location where Taufik was detected hiding until the perpetrator was eventually found. “Therefore, the teams assigned to Majalaya remained there, searching around the housing estate, and finally in the late afternoon towards evening we were able to meet and arrest him,” he explained.
Taufik was briefly taken to the local police station before being transferred to the West Java Regional Police headquarters. Taufik has been officially detained.
In addition to the investigation into the criminal acts he committed, police also conducted a comprehensive medical examination and a urine test to ascertain the suspect’s physical and mental condition. Rudi confirmed that the suspect’s drug test result was negative, although Taufik admitted to having consumed alcohol.
“The stages that must be carried out according to regulations include conducting a health check to truly ascertain the suspect’s health condition, including an examination of his entire body. This is done because we must obtain accurate information or the actual condition of the suspect,” he stated.
