Police continue to trace the identity of a woman suspected of stealing condolence money in the Kramat Jati area, East Jakarta (Jaktim). Police currently have identified the suspect’s address. ‘Not final yet, it’s only been checked using a facial sketch. It is only suspected that the address is Palembang,’ said AKP Fadoli, head of the Criminal Investigation Unit at Kramat Jati Police Sector, on Friday (6 March 2026). At present, the suspect is believed to have fled after the video circulated. Authorities have also conducted investigations, including CCTV checks. Meanwhile, the total loss to the victims is not yet known. ‘Because the donations from residents contained in the envelopes have not yet been opened and counted by the family, the amount is not known,’ he said.

Suspect Operated 3 Times

Previously, a woman was suspected of stealing condolence money in Kramat Jati, East Jakarta (Jaktim). The woman is alleged to have carried out similar thefts at least three times. ‘Yes, that’s right, just like the two previous incidents,’ said AKP Fadoli, head of the Criminal Investigation Unit of the Kramat Jati Police, quoted by Antara, Thursday (5/3). The police revealed that the same suspect had carried out the acts at least two times in different areas with a modus operandi of feigning condolences. So in total the suspect has carried out three offences.

The suspect in the condolence money theft case in Kramat Jati is identical to the two previous incidents. ‘Correct, indeed the case and the culprit are the same,’ he said. The two earlier actions occurred on Jalan Damai, Lubang Buaya, on 22 December 2025, and on Jalan Bambu Kuning, Bambu Apus, on 4 February 2026. In all three incidents, the suspect is believed to have used the same pattern, targeting funeral homes and taking advantage of the bereaved to carry out her actions. Based on preliminary investigations, the suspect came to the funeral home pretending to know the family of the deceased. She then mixed with other mourners to avoid arousing suspicion. When the situation lapsed, the suspect is believed to have taken condolence money donated by guests.
