Police to tighten net over gamblers

PALU, Central Sulawesi: The provincial administration is keeping an eye for a number of employees alleged to have been frequenting gambling parlors, Antara reported yesterday.

Spokesman Datlin Tamalagi said here yesterday the administration is seeking for evidence of the allegation, in line with the instruction of Governor Bandjela Paliudju to ban gambling in the province.

Chief of the provincial police Col. R. A. Hidayat S. said in a separate occasion that the police have launched investigation into entertainment centers doubling as gambling dens.

"The police will be strict. Civil servants, civilians, or Army members who are found gambling will be punished," he said. (rms)
