Police to Search More Locations in Three Major Corruption Cases
Polda Metro Jaya, together with the Police’s Corruption Eradication Corps (Kortastipidkor), has searched several locations related to three suspected corruption cases involving coal, ASABRI, and Krakatau Steel. Police are now preparing to search other points connected to the cases.
Kabid Humas Polda Metro Jaya Kombes Budi Hermanto stated that the investigation process is still ongoing dynamically. Investigators require more time to complete the process.
‘We ask for your time. This investigation process is continuing and it is dynamic,’ Budi said at Polda Metro Jaya, Jakarta, Friday (10/7/2026).
Investigators are scheduled to summon other witnesses and search new locations suspected of being linked to the cases. ‘In the process, there will be other witnesses, including location points where searches will be conducted, and we will certainly inform you,’ he said.
Polda Metro Jaya previously searched several locations on Wednesday (8/7) related to the three major corruption allegations. Among them, police searched a money changer and Cafe de’Clan Signature in the Cipete area, South Jakarta, as well as a house in the Bogor area, West Java.
Police seized a number of items during the search, including gold bars and foreign currency worth billions of rupiah.
The series of searches is related to three suspected corruption cases. The Head of the Police’s Corruption Eradication Corps, Inspector General Totok Suharyanto, mentioned that the investigations are being handled together through a joint investigation scheme with the Special Criminal Investigation Directorate of Polda Metro Jaya.
He stated that the cases are related to alleged corruption in coal procurement that triggered a blackout, the ASABRI corruption case, and the debt settlement case from PT CBS to PT KNI, a subsidiary of the state-owned enterprise Krakatau Steel.
Most recently, police searched a shop house in Cipete, South Jakarta. Investigators were seen leaving the shop house carrying various pieces of evidence, including a large suitcase, a yellow handbag, and a computer monitor.
Kabid Humas Polda Metro Jaya Kombes Budi Hermanto emphasised that the investigation into the suspected corruption cases at PLN, ASABRI, and Krakatau Steel is under the direct attention of President Prabowo Subianto.
‘This is the attention of the President. Alleged corruption cases are a concern for the police to uncover and investigate. This series of searches is part of the investigation process to find and collect evidence to fulfil the investigation process,’ Budi Hermanto said after the search at Cafe de’Clan, Cipete, South Jakarta, Wednesday (8/7).
Budi stated that the search is part of uncovering alleged coal corruption at PLN that triggered a blackout in Sumatra some time ago, mega corruption at ASABRI, and Krakatau Steel. The corruption cases under investigation include bribery, gratuities, and money laundering.
