Police to question ex-SMP 56 teachers

JAKARTA: The Jakarta Police are scheduled to question four SMP 56 state junior high school teachers on Tuesday as witnesses following a complaint filed by the city administration on "an illegal academic activity" at the school on Jl. Melawai Raya, South Jakarta.

The four -- Bagus Sukorono, Darmawati, Elia and Abdul Rohim -- were among 10 teachers who earlier opposed the land swap deal between private developer PT Tata Disantara and the Ministry of National Education.

Up until today, only teacher Nurlaila still resists the deal. Nine other teachers have moved to another SMP 56 on Jl. Jeruk Purut, East Cilandak, South Jakarta.

The teachers would be accompanied by lawyers from the Association of Indonesian Lawyers (APHI), reported news portal tempointeraktif.com on Monday. -- JP
