Police to Question BYD Seal Driver in Sudyatmo Toll Road Hit-and-Run Case

Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Traffic Directorate of the Jakarta Metropolitan Police (Polda Metro Jaya) is set to question the driver of a BYD Seal electric car suspected of fleeing the scene after striking a Chevrolet on the Sudyatmo Toll Road at KM22, upper lane heading towards Pluit, North Jakarta, in the early hours of Saturday (3 May).

Deputy Traffic Director of Polda Metro Jaya, AKBP Argo Wiyono, confirmed in Jakarta on Saturday that the BYD Seal driver was initially scheduled to be questioned on Wednesday (7 May). "However, the individual, through their legal counsel, requested a postponement on medical grounds," he said.

Argo rescheduled the questioning of the BYD driver for Wednesday (14 May). The driver is expected to cooperate and comply with the summons. In handling the case, authorities will act professionally and in accordance with prevailing regulations.

"The police will continue to proceed legally based on the available facts," he said.

The accident involving the BYD Seal and a Chevrolet occurred on the Sudyatmo Toll Road at KM22, upper lane heading towards Pluit, Jakarta, in the early hours of Saturday (3 May). In a video uploaded by the account @jakartabarat24jam, the BYD Seal can be seen fleeing the scene after leaving behind the Chevrolet it had struck.

"Hit-and-run incident on the Airport Toll Road towards Pluit, BYD Seal B 1547 BNV appeared to be stopping but then drove off," the account wrote.

The account also noted that the victim's vehicle had overturned and that a 1.5-month-old baby was inside at the time of the collision.
