Police to prosecute Jaklingko assault suspect after clinical trial

Jakarta (ANTARA) — Police will soon hand down a sentence to the perpetrator identified as NS, 30, who assaulted a Jaklingko passenger on route 49 Lebak Bulus-Cipulir, specifically on Jalan Ulujami Raya, Pesanggrahan, South Jakarta. The victim is identified as B, 27. Following the release of the clinical trial results, the investigation will proceed under applicable regulations. At a press conference at Pesanggrahan Police Station on Saturday, Senior Commissioner Seala Syah Alam said that during the pending clinical trial results, the police will continue to follow legal procedures. After the clinical trial is completed, the perpetrator will be detained at Polres Metro Jakarta Selatan. The police also urged the public to report any threats to public order and safety. ‘If you come across anything that is not appropriate, that disturbs public order, safety or comfort, you can report to us via the 110 call centre,’ said Seala. On the bus passing under the Pasar Bintaro toll road, the suspect boarded the vehicle and sat in the back row on the right-hand side. He then asked another passenger to assist in tapping the electronic payment card, but the machine malfunctioned. After the card was used, the victim received the card from another passenger to return to the suspect. However, the suspect seized it from the victim’s hand violently. Not long after, when the victim alighted from the vehicle, the suspect suddenly slapped the victim’s left cheek. The victim asked about the action, but the suspect slapped him twice more and kicked him once. The two then exchanged words until the driver stopped the vehicle and all passengers were asked to alight. The victim reported the incident to the police and the suspect was captured in the Kebon Jeruk area, West Jakarta, on Friday (22/5). The assault case is recorded in Police Report Number LP/B/80/V/2026/SPKT/Pesanggrahan Police Sector/Metro Jaksel Police/Metro Jaya Police dated 21 May 2026. The suspect is charged under Article 471 of Law Number 1 Year 2023 on the Indonesian Criminal Code for light assault, with a maximum imprisonment of six months or a second category fine.
