Police to Increase Food Security Warehouses to 28 Units
The Indonesian National Police will have 28 food security warehouses spread across several regions of Indonesia to maximise crop yields. This was conveyed by the Chief of Police, General Listyo Sigit Prabowo.
He explained that currently, the Police has built 18 storage warehouses on Police land in 12 provinces. This is being done in collaboration with Perum Bulog, along with the potential for increased crop volume.
“The simultaneous groundbreaking ceremony was held for the construction of 10 food security warehouses, so that the total number of Police food security warehouses will eventually reach 28 units,” he said in a statement received in Jakarta on Saturday, May 16, 2026, as quoted by Antara.
He made this statement in front of President Prabowo Subianto at the second-quarter simultaneous corn harvest event, the groundbreaking ceremony for 10 Police food security warehouses and the launch of operations for 166 Police Seed Provision Centres (SPPG) in Tuban Regency, East Java. The laying of the first stone for the construction of the 10 Police food security warehouses was led by President Prabowo.
Each warehouse has a capacity of 1,000 tons. In addition, he said that one unit of warehouse with a capacity of 10,000 tons will be completed in June 2026.
The construction of the warehouse is carried out to increase storage capacity in order to maintain the stability of food supply in various regions. Besides corn, the warehouse will also accommodate rice and other commodities.
He ensured that the Police are committed to continuing to support and realise a comprehensive corn agricultural ecosystem. “Starting from upstream to downstream, including land preparation, provision of seeds, planting, maintenance, to ensuring the absorption of crops.”
