Police to Implement Traffic Management at Lapangan Banteng for Imlek Celebration

The Jakarta Metro Police Traffic Directorate is preparing traffic management measures for the Imlek Festival 2577 celebration held at Lapangan Banteng, Jakarta on Saturday, 28 February.

Robby Hefados, Head of Public Order and Civil Relations at the Jakarta Metro Police Traffic Directorate, stated that 150 traffic personnel and 600 police officers from various police precincts have been deployed to conduct security operations.

“This security effort will be carried out as thoroughly as possible. The planned attendee is the Vice President of the Republic of Indonesia,” Robby told journalists.

Robby explained that road closures and traffic management measures would be situational in nature. He said situational road closures would be implemented during the Imlek parade.

Robby detailed that the parade would start from the Cathedral Church and head towards the Monument of Livestock, then turn right towards the Foreign Ministry Building, continue to the Post Office, and end at the western entrance of Lapangan Banteng.

“The road closures are situational in nature and traffic flow closures will only be implemented during the parade procession,” he stated.

“We are also committed to ensuring the parade procession does not disrupt traffic flow. If disruption occurs, we will help facilitate traffic or temporarily redirect it. Once the parade procession has passed, the roads will be normalised,” he added.

Meanwhile, Robby mentioned that the police have prepared several parking areas at the Foreign Ministry Office, the old Pertamina Building, the Religious Affairs Ministry Office, and the Post Office. VIP parking and VIP guest parking have been arranged at the Borobudur Hotel.

“The total parking spaces available across all parking areas is approximately one thousand vehicles. Public entry points have been prepared at the western and eastern entrances of Lapangan Banteng,” he said.
