Police to implement situational traffic management during Indian PM's visit

The Traffic Directorate of Polda Metro Jaya is implementing temporary escorts and traffic management on a number of protocol roads in Jakarta to welcome the state visit of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi from 6 to 8 July 2026. “To ensure the smooth running of the event and as a form of respect, officers in the field will carry out escorts and temporary traffic management,” said Polda Metro Jaya Traffic Director Brigadier General Pol Komarudin in a statement in Jakarta on Monday. He explained that the series of state events is scheduled to take place from Monday to Wednesday (6-8 July) starting at 17.00 WIB until completion. He also confirmed that road closures will not be implemented totally, but will only be situational, or when the state delegation convoy passes along the designated routes. A number of protocol roads in Jakarta that will be used by the state guest entourage include: Jalan Raya Halim Perdanakusuma, Jalan MT Haryono, Jalan HR Rasuna Said, Jalan Dr. Ide Anak Agung Gde Agung, Jalan HOS Cokroaminoto, Jalan Imam Bonjol, Jalan Jenderal Sudirman, Jalan MH Thamrin, Jalan Medan Merdeka Barat, Jalan Gatot Subroto, Jalan Prof. Dr. Satrio, and Jalan Gerbang Pemuda. The public is also advised to use alternative routes to avoid potential traffic congestion during the state visit. Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has been confirmed to visit Indonesia on 6-8 July 2026 to fulfil an invitation from President Prabowo Subianto, as well as to make a reciprocal state visit following President Prabowo’s trip to India in January 2025. The confirmation was delivered by Indian Ambassador to Indonesia Sandeep Chakravorty during a press conference at the Indian Embassy in Jakarta on Friday (3/7). “Prime Minister Modi will be here. This visit will be brief, only for two nights,” said Chakravorty. According to him, as currently planned, PM Modi will visit two cities, namely Jakarta and Yogyakarta.
