Police to Hold Reconstruction for Little Aresha Daycare Child Abuse Case
Police have transferred the case files related to the child abuse at Little Aresha Daycare in Yogyakarta to the Prosecutor’s Office. The police force will coordinate with prosecutors, including plans to conduct a reconstruction of the crime scene to clarify the sequence of events.
“We will coordinate with the Public Prosecutor for the next stages, including the planned execution of a reconstruction to clarify the series of events that occurred,” stated the Head of Criminal Investigation at Yogyakarta City Police, Commissioner Riski Adrian, on Wednesday (3/6/2026).
It is reported that the submission of files involving 13 suspects was completed on Tuesday (2/6). Nevertheless, the police are still conducting further investigations to uncover the potential involvement of other parties. Authorities are also investigating the possibility of corporate criminal violations involving the management of the educational institution.
Police raided the Little Aresha Daycare in Umbulharjo, Yogyakarta, on Friday (24/4) following reports of violence against children. Thirty individuals were detained during the raid, with 13 subsequently named as suspects.
Commissioner Riski Adrian added that according to available data, 103 children are registered at Little Aresha Daycare. However, based on preliminary examinations, 53 children have been identified as victims.
“We are looking at the foundation’s data for this academic year. (The number of identified victims) is still 53 children,” explained Adrian.
Adrian further explained that the children were subjected to similar treatment. Medical examinations (visum) on several children revealed bruises on their wrists and ankles. “As of now, we are investigating this deeply; we have conducted medical examinations on three children. Most injuries were on the wrists, suggesting they may have been caused by being tied with ropes,”
The children were reportedly tied from the moment they arrived at the daycare until they were picked up by their parents. The restraints were only removed at specific times, such as during meals and bathing.
“They were tied from the morning; they were only dressed and photographed to send documentation to the guardians during meal or bath times,” Adrian revealed.
He added that the duration of the restraint varied. “The schedules differed; some were from Monday to Sunday, others from Monday to Saturday. These were part of different packages. The price was adjusted according to each parent’s requirements. Some stayed from morning until noon, others from morning until 5 pm, depending on the parents’ needs.”
