Police to Exhume Body of Former Jampidsus' Domestic Worker to Investigate Unnatural Death

The Indonesian National Police will carry out an exhumation of the body of Sutrimo, who was buried in Banyumas, Central Java. Sutrimo was a domestic worker for former Junior Attorney General for Special Crimes (Jampidsus) Febrie Adriansyah. Sutrimo was found dead under unnatural circumstances several days after the investigation into a corruption and money laundering case that named Febrie as a suspect. “God willing, on Wednesday, the day after tomorrow, we will conduct an exhumation of the deceased’s body in Banyumas,” said the Director of General Criminal Investigation at Polda Metro Jaya, Senior Commissioner Iman Imanuddin, in Jakarta on Monday. The exhumation is planned for Wednesday, 12 August 2026. Exhumation is the process of digging up a buried body, conducted as part of a legal investigation to determine the exact cause of death. Iman explained that the police team has obtained permission from the family and heirs of Sutrimo for the exhumation. He added that the family had also reported the unnatural death to the police in Banyumas. Following the family’s report, Polda Metro Jaya received the transfer of case handling from the Banyumas Police and the Criminal Investigation Agency of the National Police. “And from those two police reports, the case is now being handled by the Directorate of General Criminal Investigation at Polda Metro Jaya. Its status has been upgraded from an inquiry to a full investigation,” Iman stated. During the preliminary inquiry phase, the Ditreskrimum Polda Metro Jaya team had already conducted searches and taken statements from several witnesses regarding Sutrimo’s death. “We have examined or taken statements from 24 witnesses during the inquiry process,” Iman said, including taking statements from the doctor and hospital staff who examined Sutrimo. “Witnesses we took statements from during the inquiry also included family members, with the interviews conducted in Banyumas,” he added. However, Iman acknowledged that the police have not yet examined or taken statements from the parties reported to be Sutrimo’s employers. Last week, the Head of the Attorney General’s Office Legal Information Centre, Anang Supriatna, confirmed that Sutrimo, who was found dead, was a domestic worker for former Jampidsus Febrie. “Yes, that’s correct. Based on the information we received, the person in question did work at FA (Febrie Adriansyah)’s house,” Anang said. However, Sutrimo was not a civil servant or bound by the responsibilities of the Adhyaksa Corps institution.
