Police to Confront Alphard Driver and Security Guard Over HI Road Incident

Police will summon the driver of a Toyota Alphard and a security guard involved in an altercation after the vehicle ran a traffic light at a pelican crossing in front of the Pullman Hotel in the Bundaran HI area, Central Jakarta, for a confrontation. “I will issue a summons for clarification to the owner of the Alphard. Then a summons for clarification to the security guard involved in the argument with the Alphard driver. After that, we will confront them at the Traffic Law Enforcement Sub-directorate,” said AKBP Ojo Ruslani, Head of the Traffic Law Enforcement Sub-directorate at the Metro Jaya Regional Police, to reporters on Thursday (23/7). “The summons will be carried out on Friday (24/7) and Monday (27/7). After that, we will confront them, bring both parties together. That is the answer I can give for now,” he continued. Ojo stated the confrontation is being conducted to investigate the incident thoroughly, including probing allegations that the Alphard was using fake plates or plates not in accordance with its designation. “Everything related to the incident, including the event itself, the vehicle used, the articles we will charge, and so on,” he said. Previously, a video circulated on social media recording a Toyota Alphard running a traffic light at a pelican crossing in front of the Pullman Hotel, Central Jakarta, leading to an argument with a security guard. In the video posted by the Instagram account @jakpus24jam.id, several pedestrians were seen crossing at the pelican crossing after the traffic light turned red for vehicles. However, an Alphard continued driving and ran the red light. A security guard who was also crossing then reprimanded the Alphard driver. However, the driver allegedly did not accept the reprimand. “The security guard then admonished the driver by banging on the car window. The driver did not accept the security guard’s action and a verbal altercation ensued,” said Menteng Metro Police Chief AKBP Braiel Arnold Rondonuwu to reporters on Thursday (23/7). According to Braeil, both parties subsequently went to a police post to request assistance in resolving the matter or mediation. Subsequently, both parties agreed to reconcile. “The matter was resolved amicably with mediation assistance from the Police Post Chief at the Thamrin Police Post. After it was settled, the driver continued his journey and the security guard returned to work,” he said.
