Police have stated they will soon announce suspects in connection with three major corruption cases involving coal, ASABRI, and Krakatau Steel. The assurance was given by Polda Metro Jaya Head of Public Relations, Commissioner Budi Hermanto, during a press conference with the Director of Enforcement at the Police’s Corruption Eradication Corps, Brigadier General Robertus Yohanes De Deo, and the Director of Special Criminal Investigation at Polda Metro Jaya, Commissioner Victor Dean Mackbon, in Jakarta on Friday (10/7/2026).

Budi initially stated that all government bodies support anti-corruption efforts, in line with President Prabowo Subianto’s directives. He expressed confidence that all ministries and agencies would support the eradication of corruption, noting it is a priority programme of the President, and pledged synergy and collaboration to resolve corruption cases.

Budi confirmed that an announcement regarding the suspects would be made, though he did not specify the exact schedule. He stated that the announcement would be made in the near future regarding the suspects in the cases handled by the joint investigation between the Corruption Eradication Corps and Polda Metro Jaya.

President’s Attention

Budi Hermanto previously stressed that the investigation into the alleged corruption in coal, ASABRI, and Krakatau Steel has the attention of President Prabowo. He noted that the President’s focus on alleged corruption cases has prompted the police to carry out investigations and searches to gather evidence.

Budi explained that the searches were part of the investigation into alleged coal corruption at PLN, which caused blackouts in Sumatra some time ago, as well as the ASABRI and Krakatau Steel cases. The corruption cases being investigated include bribery, gratification, and money laundering. He added that the Corruption Eradication Corps and Polda Metro Jaya are conducting simultaneous searches at several locations, including Cafe de’Clan and Koin Money Changer, in connection with the alleged corruption cases.
