Police tighten net on gamblers

PALU, Central Sulawesi: The provincial administration is keeping an eye out for a number of its employees alleged to have frequented gambling parlors, Antara reported yesterday.

Spokesman Datlin Tamalagi said yesterday that the administration is seeking evidence of the allegation, in line with Governor Bandjela Paliudju's instruction banning gambling in the province.

Chief of the provincial police Col. R. A. Hidayat S. said on a separate occasion that the police have launched an investigation into entertainment centers doubling as gambling dens.

"The police will be strict. Civil servants, civilians, or Army members who are found gambling will be punished," he said. (rms)
