The Criminal Investigation Unit of the Pamulang Police Station thwarted an attempted theft involving the manipulation of an ATM machine at the Rumah Sakit Buah Hati outlet in Pamulang, South Tangerang, on Thursday morning.

Pamulang Police Chief, AKP Galuh Pebri Saputra, explained in a statement on Friday that the incident began around 06:17 WIB during a routine patrol by the Pamulang Police Operational Team near the hospital area. Officers observed suspicious movements from three men, identified by the initials AN, RA, and MA, near the ATM booth.

Rather than immediate intervention, officers stopped their vehicle and monitored the suspects from a safe distance. During this surveillance, the suspects began installing a blocking device into the slot of a BCA ATM machine. Once the device was in place, they prepared to monitor the location while waiting for customers to perform transactions.

The suspects’ plan involved waiting for a customer’s card to become stuck, at which point they would pretend to offer assistance in order to seize the card and drain the victim’s account balance.
