A methamphetamine transaction involving 104.80 grammes alleged to be ready for distribution was thwarted by the West Lombok Police Narcotics Unit. A courier identified as MAS (21), from Central Lombok, was arrested on the roadside of Sandik Village, Batu Layar District, on Wednesday 25 February at approximately 14.50 WITA.

The arrest followed a public report concerning the proliferation of drug trafficking activity in the area. Acting on this information, police conducted investigations and field observations until they obtained accurate intelligence regarding the suspect’s movements.

“After obtaining accurate information, our team immediately conducted a roadside ambush in Sandik Village. We successfully apprehended the suspect identified as MAS who was allegedly about to conduct a transaction,” explained Iptu Fitrawan Dwi Wardani, Head of the Narcotics Unit at West Lombok Police, on Friday 27 February 2026.

Upon arrest, MAS was immediately searched. Officers discovered a black plastic package containing tissue rolls wrapped in clear adhesive tape. Upon opening, the package contained transparent crystals suspected to be methamphetamine.

During preliminary questioning, MAS confessed that the methamphetamine was obtained from an individual identified as T residing in the Narmada area of West Lombok. He stated that he acted solely as a courier or trusted associate of T to distribute the drugs throughout West Lombok.

“The suspect confessed to obtaining the goods from an associate identified as T. We are currently investigating the involvement of other parties and developing leads on this network,” said Fitrawan.

In addition to the 104.80 grammes of methamphetamine, police also seized one blue Redmi Note 11 mobile phone suspected of being used for transaction communications, and cash amounting to 70,000 rupiah.

MAS and the evidence have been secured at West Lombok Police Headquarters for further legal proceedings.

For his actions, MAS faces charges under Article 114 paragraph (2) of the Narcotics Law in conjunction with Article 609 paragraph (2) letter a of Law Number 1 of 2023 on the Criminal Code and in conjunction with Law Number 1 of 2026 on Penalty Adjustment. He faces a maximum penalty of 20 years imprisonment.
