Police: Taufik Hidayat Moved Locations Every Hour Before Arrest
The Head of Public Relations for the West Java Regional Police, Kombes Hendra Rochmawan, stated that Taufik Hidayat, the alleged perpetrator of the confinement and abuse of his partner, YTR (29), was highly skilled at hiding before his eventual arrest. Taufik was apprehended in the Majalaya area, Bandung Regency, West Java, on Tuesday (23/6).
“He moved locations every hour, but remained within the Greater Bandung area,” Hendra told CNNIndonesia.com.
Hendra declined to reveal the specific details of the arrest, noting only that a press conference regarding the apprehension would be held tomorrow afternoon.
Previously, the West Java Regional Police Chief, Irjen Rudi Setiawan, announced the formation of a special task force to hunt for Taufik Hidayat. This team involves the Directorate of Narcotics, Cyber Crime, Special Crimes, and General Crimes.
“I also wish to inform you that we have issued a wanted list. In this regard, we hope for the assistance of the entire community; if you see any information, know of his whereabouts, or encounter him, please cooperate immediately with the West Java Police, specifically the West Java Regional Police, to report his location,” Rudi said at RSHS Bandung today.
“The West Java Regional Police will not provide any space for perpetrators of such violence. We will continue to search for him and ask for the public’s support. This case must be uncovered and processed according to the applicable law,” he added.
YTR was allegedly abused and held captive by her partner, Taufik Hidayat, for three years in a boarding house in the Cileunyi area, Bandung Regency, West Java. The 29-year-old woman suffered severe injuries, including impaired vision, a cleft lip, difficulty speaking, and an inability to walk.
The alleged abuse case was reported by the victim’s family to the West Java Regional Police on Friday, 12 June 2026. The victim’s sister, Melanie Silviani, stated that the victim is currently receiving intensive care at Hasan Sadikin Hospital (RSHS) in Bandung.
Member of Commission VIII of the House of Representatives (DPR), Atalia Praratya, revealed the condition of YTR, the victim of the confinement and abuse. Atalia admitted to visiting the victim and expressed her sadness at seeing her condition. According to her, the victim’s face was disfigured and she had lost her sight.
“The victim’s facial structure is severely damaged; she has lost her vision and suffers from serious injuries due to the barbaric violence during three years of confinement,” Atalia said when contacted on Wednesday (23/6).
