Police: Taufik Hidayat Moved Locations Every Hour Before Arrest

West Java Police’s Head of Public Relations, Commissioner Hendra Rochmawan, stated that Taufik Hidayat, the suspected perpetrator of the confinement and abuse of his girlfriend with the initials YTR (29), was extremely adept at hiding before finally being arrested. Taufik was arrested in the Majalaya area, Bandung Regency, West Java, on Tuesday (23/6). “He moved locations every hour, but still around Greater Bandung,” Hendra told CNNIndonesia.com. Hendra was not yet willing to disclose the details of Taufik’s arrest. He only said there would be a press conference regarding the arrest tomorrow afternoon. Previously, West Java Police Chief Inspector General Rudi Setiawan said a special team had been formed to hunt down Taufik Hidayat. This team involved the Directorate of Narcotics Investigation, Cyber, Special Crimes, and General Crimes. “I also inform you that we have issued a wanted persons list. Regarding this, we hope for assistance from the entire community, if anyone sees information, knows, or meets him, to immediately cooperate with the West Java Police, specifically the West Java Regional Police, to inform us of his whereabouts,” said Rudi at Hasan Sadikin Hospital in Bandung today. “The West Java Regional Police gives no room to perpetrators of violence like this. We will continue to search for his whereabouts and ask for support from the community. This must be uncovered and processed according to applicable law,” he continued. YTR is suspected of being abused and confined by her boyfriend Taufik Hidayat for three years in her boarding room in the Cileunyi area, Bandung Regency, West Java. The 29-year-old woman suffered severe injuries, including being unable to see normally, a cleft lip, difficulty speaking, and being unable to walk. The alleged abuse case was reported by the family to the West Java Regional Police on Friday, 12 June 2026. The victim’s older sibling, Melanie Silviani, said the victim is still receiving intensive care at Hasan Sadikin Hospital in Bandung City. Member of Commission VIII of the House of Representatives, Atalia Praratya, revealed the condition of YTR (29), the victim of confinement and abuse by her boyfriend Taufik Hidayat in Bandung Regency, West Java. Atalia admitted to having visited and felt sad seeing the victim’s condition. According to her, the victim’s facial structure is damaged and she has even lost her sight. “The victim’s facial structure is severely damaged, she has lost her sight, and suffered severe injuries due to cruel violence during three years of confinement,” said Atalia when contacted on Wednesday (23/6).
