Police Target Significant Drop in Tramadol Circulation in Tanah Abang Within a Month
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Narcotics Unit of the Central Jakarta Metro Police is targeting a significant decrease in the circulation of tramadol in the Tanah Abang area within one month through integrated enforcement measures conducted jointly with various agencies.
“The target we are striving for is that within one month, there will be a change in the Tanah Abang area,” said Central Jakarta Metro Police Narcotics Unit Head AKBP Wisnu S Kuncoro in Jakarta, Tuesday.
He stated that the eradication of tramadol circulation is no longer being carried out independently, but rather through coordination involving the local government, the Civil Service Police Unit (Satpol PP), law enforcement officers, and the community.
He noted that previously, each agency had been taking action according to its own authority. However, these efforts still faced obstacles, particularly concerning the regulations that serve as the basis for law enforcement.
Therefore, all involved parties will align their perceptions so that any findings in the field can be immediately followed up according to the authority of law enforcement officials.
“Going forward, we will first align our perceptions. Any findings from the Satpol PP or input from the media and the public can be directly communicated to us for follow-up,” Wisnu said.
He added that the police will take immediate action against any individual found to be selling or distributing tramadol illegally.
This effort, he said, is part of a comprehensive measure agreed upon in a cross-sector coordination meeting involving the Central Jakarta City Government, the City Leadership Coordination Forum (Forkopimko), the National Agency of Drug and Food Control (BBPOM), community leaders, and various community organisations to curb the circulation of prescription drugs without a doctor’s prescription in the Tanah Abang area.
“So that all those involved in the circulation, whether selling or trading, can be stopped immediately,” Wisnu concluded.
