Police Target 828 SPPG Units to Serve 3.5 Million Free Meal Beneficiaries
National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo has expressed the institution’s support for the success of the Free Nutritious Meal (MBG) programme. The police have already operated 828 Nutrition Fulfilment Service Units (SPPG), absorbing 70,700 workers.
Speaking at the 80th Bhayangkara Day commemoration in Bogor on Wednesday, General Sigit outlined the development targets for SPPG in 2026. “For the Free Nutritious Meal programme, the National Police is targeting the construction of 1,500 SPPG in 2026. As of June this year, there are already 1,415 SPPG, with details of 828 SPPG having been operated, 227 SPPG in the operational preparation stage, and 360 SPPG under construction,” he said at the Brimob Training Centre in Cikeas, Bogor, West Java.
Several SPPG have been built in the 3T regions (underdeveloped, frontier, and outermost). It is estimated that there are around 3.5 million beneficiaries of this MBG programme. “Including 33 of them built in 3T regions. All of these SPPG are estimated to be able to serve 3.5 million beneficiaries and absorb 70,700 workers,” he revealed.
Furthermore, these police-run SPPG have also obtained several certificates regarding food product feasibility. The police have also compiled a diverse menu book. “SPPG Polri has obtained 348 Hygiene Sanitation Eligibility Certificates, 146 Halal Product Assurance Certificates, 285 Water Lab Test Certificates, 304 trained chefs, and has compiled the ‘Rasa Bhayangkara Nusantara’ book containing 80 diverse menus, so as to add food variety and ensure nutritional standards are met,” he stated.
The police SPPG units are also supported by various facilities, enabling them to maintain a zero-accident record to date. “Including the use of other supporting facilities such as stainless water tanks, water filters and reverse osmosis filters, water heaters, bio-tank wastewater treatment systems, steamer food trays, UV food tray racks, and test kits to consistently apply food safety principles in the processing. As a result, thank God, the SPPG Polri has managed to maintain zero accidents to date,” he said.
In this regard, the police are also developing independent food sources. This effort aims to build a supply chain ecosystem. “The National Police also continues to develop independent food sources or supply chains, such as greenhouses, biofloc fish ponds, cattle, goat, and chicken farming, as well as central supply warehouses. Through these steps, the police are building a supply chain ecosystem involving 12,420 MSMEs, including farmer groups, livestock breeders, fishermen, and cooperatives, thereby promoting the welfare of local business actors,” he concluded.
