Police Target 1,500 Nutrition Kitchens Nationwide, Including Remote Areas

The Indonesian National Police (Polri) has reaffirmed its commitment to supporting the government’s priority programmes by accelerating the construction of Nutritional Service Units (SPPG). The force is targeting the operation of 1,500 nutrition kitchens by mid-2026 as part of the national Free Nutritious Meals (MBG) programme. The report was delivered by National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo during the Bhayangkara Day ceremony in Bogor Regency on Wednesday (1/7). He detailed that as of June 2026, 1,415 SPPG units are in the pipeline. Of these, 828 kitchens are already operational, 227 are in the commissioning phase, and a further 360 are still under construction, including 33 units located in underdeveloped, frontier, and outermost (3T) regions. “Polri continues to play an active role in securing various other government programmes so they can truly reach and benefit the public, such as nutritional fulfilment, inter-regional connectivity, and the protection of workers’ rights,” Listyo stated. He added that all SPPG facilities are projected to serve approximately 3.5 million beneficiaries. Beyond the health impact, the programme has created jobs for 70,700 people and engaged 12,420 micro, small, and medium enterprise (UMKM) actors, ranging from farmers to livestock breeders, within an independent food supply chain that includes greenhouses and farms. To ensure quality, the police have obtained 348 hygiene and sanitation eligibility certificates, 146 halal certificates, and 285 water laboratory test certificates. Food safety standards are reinforced with modern facilities such as reverse osmosis systems and waste treatment plants. To date, the SPPG operations under Polri have maintained a zero-accident status. In addition to nutrition, the police reported infrastructure achievements with the construction of 775 Merah Putih Presisi bridges. A total of 711 bridges have been completed, while the remaining 64 are targeted for completion this July to improve public mobility towards public facilities and stimulate local economies.
