Police Take Firm Action Against Illegal Mining, Burning 3 PETI Rafts in Kuansing
The Kuantan Singingi Police Resort (Kuansing), Riau Regional Police, has once again demonstrated its commitment to eradicating illegal gold mining. Three illegal gold mining rafts (PETI) in Kuantan Tengah Subdistrict, Kuansing Regency, were destroyed by being set on fire.
Kuansing Police Chief AKBP Hidayat Permana stated that the operation followed information from the community regarding illegal gold mining activities in Simpang Tiga Ward, which borders Pulau Godang Kari Village, Kuantan Tengah Subdistrict, Kuansing Regency.
“The team, led by Kuansing Police Resort’s Mobile Brigade Unit Non-Commissioned Officer Ipda Lukman along with personnel, headed to the location on Tuesday afternoon (24/3/2026),” said AKBP Hidayat Permana in his statement on Tuesday (24/3/2026).
Upon arriving at the site, the officers did not find any perpetrators. However, they discovered three PETI rafts that were inactive.
“Subsequently, the three PETI raft units were destroyed on site by being dismantled and burned,” he added.
The Police Chief emphasised that law enforcement efforts will continue. Meanwhile, the public is urged not to engage in illegal mining.
“We will continue to conduct patrols and surveillance of PETI activities to preserve the environment and maintain public order in Kuansing Regency. The public who know of any PETI activities are urged to report to the 110 call centre service,” he said.
Furthermore, the Police Chief called on the public not to carry out illegal mining that damages the environment, as a manifestation of the commitment to the green policing spirit promoted by the Riau Regional Police.
