Police Swiftly Arrest 'Bang Jago' for Assaulting Motorist in Jagakarsa
The Jagakarsa Police, under the South Jakarta Metropolitan Police, have uncovered a case of assault that occurred in the Jagakarsa area, South Jakarta. The perpetrator was arrested after police conducted a series of investigations.
Jagakarsa Police Chief Kompol Nurma Dewi stated that her team acted swiftly after learning of an assault video circulating on social media. “After discovering the assault video circulating on social media, we immediately conducted a search and located the victim to file a police report,” Kompol Nurma said on Monday (6/7/2026).
The assault occurred on Saturday (4/7) at approximately 11:30 AM Western Indonesia Time on Jalan Moch Kahfi II, near Al Bainah Field, Cipedak Village, Jagakarsa District, South Jakarta. The victim in the incident has the initials AA. Meanwhile, the arrested ‘bang jago’ is FRS (37), a man known to be self-employed.
Based on initial accounts, the victim was assaulted by a man previously unknown to him. At the time of the incident, the perpetrator was seen riding a Kawasaki Ninja motorcycle and wearing clothing as recorded in the circulating video.
Kompol Nurma explained that after the police report was filed on Sunday (5/7), the Jagakarsa Police Criminal Investigation Unit, together with the South Jakarta Metropolitan Police Opsnal Team, immediately investigated the case to locate the perpetrator. “As a result of the investigation, the team managed to secure the perpetrator on Sunday evening. The perpetrator was then taken to the Jagakarsa Police station for further examination,” she said.
During the arrest, police also seized evidence in the form of a Kawasaki Ninja 150 RR motorcycle used by the perpetrator. Currently, investigators are completing the case file and gathering further information from the relevant parties.
“This case is being handled according to applicable legal procedures. We also encourage the public to play an active role in maintaining security and order in their respective environments. If anyone witnesses a crime, becomes a victim of crime, or requires police assistance, the public can immediately report to the nearest police station or contact the police emergency service at 110,” Kompol Nurma stated.
The perpetrator tested positive for methamphetamine. Police conducted a urine test on FRS after his arrest on Sunday (5/7), which confirmed the presence of the drug. “That’s correct. We have conducted a urine test, and he tested positive for drug use. The type is methamphetamine,” Nurma said. Police are further investigating the source of the methamphetamine purchased by FRS and will seek information from several related parties, including FRS’s family.
Police will also issue the perpetrator a traffic citation for not wearing a helmet while riding and for the assault. FRS admitted that at the time of the incident, he was riding without a specific destination in mind. “We have coordinated with the Jagakarsa Traffic Unit to issue a citation. Clearly, he was not wearing a helmet, right? We also need to clarify the vehicle’s documents,” Nurma said.
