A video has surfaced showing a man, a passenger in a Toyota Vellfire, engaging in violent behaviour at a petrol station in Cipinang, East Jakarta. Police responded quickly to the information and apprehended the perpetrator.

The incident occurred at a petrol station in the Cipinang area of East Jakarta on Sunday evening (22 February 2026). The video’s caption states that the black Vellfire was attempting to refuel with Pertalite fuel.

However, the petrol station attendant refused because the barcode scan did not match the vehicle’s registration number, preventing the refuelling process as per regulations. For information, Pertamina has implemented a barcode system for refuelling with Pertalite fuel. Vehicles without a barcode cannot refuel with Pertalite.

This refusal triggered an emotional reaction from the perpetrator, who was a passenger in the car. With an arrogant attitude, the perpetrator even claimed to be an official, which was untrue.

The perpetrator then proceeded to commit acts of violence, assaulting several petrol station employees. The victims reported the incident to the Pulo Gadung Police Station on Monday, 23 February 2026.

Police Arrest the Perpetrator

In response to the incident, police immediately dispatched officers to the location and launched an investigation. It did not take long for the police to arrest the perpetrator.

“The perpetrator has been apprehended and confirmed not to be a member of the National Police. He is currently being processed by investigators from the East Jakarta Metropolitan Police. We assure that the case will be handled professionally and transparently,” said the Head of Public Relations of the Jakarta Metropolitan Police, Commissioner Budi Hermanto, in a statement on Tuesday (24 February 2026).

The investigation is being conducted by a joint team from the Criminal Investigation Unit of the East Jakarta Metropolitan Police and the Criminal Investigation Unit of the Pulo Gadung Police Station. The Internal Affairs Division of the Jakarta Metropolitan Police is also involved, given that the perpetrator claimed to be an official.

The investigation revealed that the perpetrator’s initials are JMH. The Jakarta Metropolitan Police confirmed that the perpetrator is not a member of the National Police.

“The registration number used on the vehicle was also not in accordance with its intended use,” he added.

Furthermore, Budi Hermanto urged the public to approach information circulating on social media wisely and await official clarification from the authorities to avoid misunderstandings.

“We encourage the public to remain calm and not be influenced by unverified information. If you encounter similar incidents or acts of violence, please report them immediately through the 110 call centre or the nearest police station. Every report will be followed up,” he concluded.
