A family of four was found dead in a tent at a tourist site in Kledung, Temanggung Regency, Central Java. Police are checking the barbecue supplies brought by the family.

“Initial indications suggest possible poisoning,” said Iptu I Komang Mahendra Deputra, Head of the Temanggung Police Criminal Investigation Unit, to reporters at Temanggung Regional Hospital on Thursday, 28 May 2026.

“Barbecue was brought by the victims themselves. Likely from the food they brought,” added Komang.

Komang stated that barbecue samples are being tested at the East Java Provincial Police Forensic Laboratory, with the DVI unit currently conducting autopsies.

“We are not yet able to confirm any suspicions as we are still conducting autopsies and food tests,” he stressed.

The family consists of Muhammad Ali Munawar, 52, his wife Maghfirah, 43, and their two children, Alvino Evan Hakim, 16, and Bagas Amar Hakiki, 21. They were found dead in the tent on Wednesday, 27 May 2026.
