Police Suspect More Than Four Perpetrators in Acid Attack on KontraS Activist
Jakarta Metropolitan Police announced two perpetrators who acted as executors in the acid splashing against KontraS activist Andrie Yunus, with initials BHC and MAK. However, the police suspect the total number of individuals involved in this acid splashing action exceeds four people. “At this time, we suspect that we can inform that the two people we showed earlier from one Police Data, this one initial BHC, two initial MAK. However, from our investigation results, we do not rule out the possibility that the perpetrators could be suspected to be more than four,” said the Director of Criminal Investigation of Jakarta Metropolitan Police, Commissioner Iman Imannudin, at the Jakarta Metropolitan Police Headquarters, Jakarta, Wednesday (18/3/2026). Iman stated that his side has opened a complaint service at hotline 110 and 081285599191 related to this case. He urged the public who know information about the perpetrators to contact those hotlines. “On this occasion, we also convey to fellow media regarding the service we have opened, the complaint service hotline 110 and number 081285599191, we open this service to the public to provide or convey information from those who know or recognise the images of the perpetrators we mentioned earlier, which can strengthen our statements,” he said. The police have displayed photos of the two suspects with initials BHC and MAK. Imanuddin said his side is still continuing to analyse scientific crime investigation evidence to thoroughly investigate this case. “We are also analysing other scientific evidence in order to support the process of uncovering the aforementioned case,” he said. As is known, Andrie Yunus became the victim of an acid splashing suspected to have been carried out by two perpetrators in Central Jakarta, Thursday (12/3) night. The incident occurred while Andrie was on his way home after attending a podcast event at the office of the Indonesian Legal Aid Foundation (YLBHI).
