Police Suspect More Than Four Perpetrators in Acid Attack on Andrie Yunus

JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - Police suspect the number of perpetrators in the acid attack case against Andrie Yunus, Deputy Coordinator of the Commission for Missing Persons and Victims of Violence (KontraS), exceeds four individuals.

This suspicion was conveyed by the Director of General Criminal Investigation of the Metro Jaya Regional Police, Senior Commissioner Pol Iman Imanudin, during a press conference at the Metro Jaya Regional Police Headquarters on Wednesday (18/3/2026).

“From the investigation results, we do not rule out the possibility that the perpetrators could number more than four, as per the initial information we provided,” Iman told reporters on Wednesday.

He explained that the perpetrators had been tailing Andrie since he was at the office of the Indonesian Legal Aid Foundation (YLBHI) in Menteng, Central Jakarta.

One perpetrator monitoring the victim’s movements gave a signal to two executors to begin following Andrie.

“It is also depicted there that after the signal was given that the victim had exited, he was then followed by one motorcycle ridden by two people whom we suspect are the executors,” Iman clarified.

The two executors have been identified by initials BHWC and MAK, who are currently being sought by police. Meanwhile, the two perpetrators driving the other motorcycles were not mentioned.

At the same time, the Military Police Centre (Puspom) of TNI Headquarters held a press conference and revealed that four of its members were involved in the incident.

“The four suspected perpetrators are from the TNI Strategic Intelligence Agency (Bais),” said the Commander of the Military Police Centre (Danpuspom) of TNI Headquarters, Major General Yusri Nuryanto, at TNI Headquarters in Jakarta on Wednesday.

Yusri stated that two among the Bais TNI members were the executors, while the roles of the other two are still being investigated.

Both law enforcement agencies will communicate with each other to match their respective investigation and prosecution results in this case.

Previously reported, KontraS Deputy Coordinator Andrie Yunus was doused with acid by unidentified persons (OTK) on Thursday night (12/3/2026).

Coordinator of the KontraS Working Body, Dimas Bagus Arya, said the incident occurred at 23:37 WIB when Andrie Yunus was riding a motorcycle on Jalan Salemba I-Talang, Senen, Central Jakarta.
