Police Suspect Man Found in Sack in Depok Was Victim of Mutilation

Police strongly suspect that an unidentified male body discovered in the Kavling Depkes field, Pancoran Mas District, Depok, was a victim of mutilation. The victim was found with his hands tied and his body wrapped in a sack and black plastic.

"When found, the victim’s hands were tied, and he was wrapped in a sack and black plastic," said AKBP Made Gede Oka Utama, Head of Criminal Investigation at the Depok Metro Police, in Jakarta on Tuesday (4/8).

Made revealed that during evacuation, officers only recovered the victim’s head, torso, and hands. Both legs, from the pelvis down, were missing. In addition to the incomplete physical condition, officers also found a slash wound on the neck and no identity documents were located at the scene.

"Therefore, we will announce the victim’s identity once we have confirmation," Made stated. The police are currently awaiting the official autopsy results from the forensic team at the Kramat Jati Police Hospital.

Kabid Humas of Polda Metro Jaya, Kombes Pol Budi Hermanto, previously disclosed the initial crime scene investigation findings. The victim was found by residents without any clothing.

"Both hands were tied with white cloth, both legs were missing from the pelvis down, and there was an open wound on the neck. The body was placed inside a rice sack wrapped in black plastic," Budi explained.

The police are currently combing the surrounding area and questioning several witnesses to gather clues and hunt down the perpetrators of this heinous act.
