Police submit Zarina's dossier

JAKARTA (JP): Police submitted yesterday the dossier on actress Zarina, who is accused of distributing 29,677 Ecstasy pills, to the Jakarta Provincial Prosecutors' Office.

The Chief of the Jakarta Detectives, Col. Paimin Aboeamr said Zarina was charged with violating Health Law no. 23/1992 Article 81 and Health Ministry Regulation no. 782/1996 on psychotropic drugs.

"Based on the witnesses' and experts' confessions, we think it's enough to prosecute her," Paimin said.

If found guilty Zarina faces up to 15 years jail and/or a fine of Rp 300 million (US$127,659).

Tangerang Police arrested Zarina at her house in West Jakarta on Aug. 7 for possessing Ecstasy. She escaped from a police escort the next day.

Tangerang Detective Chief Capt. Ade Sutiana was dismissed over the escape.

She was re-arrested on Nov. 4 in Houston, U.S., and brought back to Jakarta two weeks later. (jun)
