Police Struggle to Unravel Alleged Rape Case of Junior Secondary School Student in Buleleng
The Buleleng Police Resort continues to struggle in investigating the case of a junior secondary school student allegedly raped by three men. To date, police have not named any suspects because the victim remains traumatised and has been unable to provide a complete statement.
Agus Fajar Gumelar, Head of Special Crimes and Crime Investigation Unit IV at the Buleleng Police Resort, stated that the victim is currently receiving psychological support from the Buleleng PPA unit.
“The child is still traumatised and clams up when questioned,” Fajar said when asked for comment on Friday, 27 February 2026.
Fajar emphasised that the investigation into the case is ongoing. Investigators plan to call the three alleged perpetrators for questioning.
“Soon. Once we do, we’ll inform the public. We also need to be careful,” he explained.
Fajar revealed that the case was first discovered by the victim’s mother. The mother became suspicious when the victim suddenly appeared withdrawn and acted unusually. The victim also complained of pain in her private area.
“It was first discovered by the victim’s mother because the victim displayed strange behaviour unlike usual, so the mother asked the victim. Then, when pressed, the victim finally admitted it,” he explained.
Regarding allegations of a romantic relationship between the victim and one of the suspected perpetrators, Fajar said the matter was still being investigated. Police have also conducted a medical examination (visum) of the victim, and the investigation process is ongoing.
“That is still being investigated. We have also conducted the medical examination and the process is currently ongoing. We are still waiting. Examinations continue,” he concluded.
