The Kepulauan Seribu Police District continues to strengthen the presence of the National Police within educational environments through the ‘Bapak Asuh Polri’ programme, visiting several schools in the Kepulauan Seribu region on Wednesday.

“The Polri Foster Parent programme is a form of the National Police’s care for the development of the younger generation,” said the Chief of Kepulauan Seribu Police, AKBP Argadija Putra, in Jakarta on Wednesday.

According to him, a direct approach to students is necessary to ensure that positive messages are well-received.

“We want the police to be present not only when problems arise, but also to provide education, motivation, and mentorship to students,” said Argadija.

He also reminded students not to be easily influenced by information circulating on social media. The spread of hoaxes can cause misunderstandings and unrest if such information is immediately believed and forwarded to others.

He urged students not to trust information from unverified sources. “Filter before you share; check the truth of the information before spreading it,” he said.

Through the Polri Foster Parent programme, he stated that the Kepulauan Seribu Police hope to further tighten the relationship between the police, schools, parents, and students.

The presence of police personnel in educational environments is expected to be part of a collective effort to build a younger generation that is characterised by strong values and wise social media usage.

“Furthermore, they are expected to have a sense of concern for the security and order within their environment,” Argadija added.
