Jakarta (ANTARA) - The South Tambun Sector Police (Polsek) have been actively visiting community security posts (pos kamling) in several areas of North Tambun District, Bekasi Regency, West Java, in order to strengthen the community-initiated security system and anticipate public order and security disturbances during the night.

South Tambun Police Chief Commissioner Wuryanti, together with Deputy Police Chief AKP Kukuh Setio Utomo, explained that this step was taken to engage in direct dialogue with residents.

“We are engaging in dialogue with residents carrying out night patrols while simultaneously mapping potential vulnerabilities in residential neighbourhoods,” said South Tambun Police Chief Commissioner Wuryanti in a statement in Jakarta on Saturday.

In addition to building two-way communication and providing encouragement to residents safeguarding their neighbourhoods, Wuryanti also combined the activity with mobile patrols.

“This combined patrol also sweeps through vulnerable routes such as Kampung Turi Main Road and H. Nausan Main Road to anticipate street crime, from motorcycle theft, illegal street racing, to brawls between groups,” she said.

She added that police officers visited guard posts located in residential areas, including the Rizky Residence and Tera Damai housing estates, as well as patrol posts along the border routes of Sriamur, Srimukti, and Satriamekar villages.

Wuryanti also explained that, in between the post visit agenda, officers humanely dispersed a number of teenagers who were still found gathering outside their homes late at night, urging them to return home immediately to avoid any undesirable incidents.

“Through the presence of personnel at these community security posts, South Tambun Polsek is committed to continuously fostering a sense of safety among the community as part of implementing the spirit of the ‘Guard Jakarta, Guard Bekasi’ movement,” she said.
