Police Strengthen Security Prevention through ‘Subuh Keliling’
Jakarta (ANTARA) – Indonesia’s National Police (Polri) is strengthening efforts to prevent disturbances to public security and order through the ‘Subuh Keliling’ initiative, which provides a forum for dialogue with residents, gathers their concerns and detects potential security threats at an early stage.
Polri Public Relations Division Head Inspector General Johnny Eddizon Isir said the initiative was one way to bring the police closer to the public while increasing residents’ participation in maintaining security in their neighbourhoods.
“Through ‘Subuh Keliling’, Polri is present to listen to the public’s concerns and strengthen collaboration in maintaining neighbourhood security. This is in keeping with the spirit of ‘Police Together with the Community’,” Isir said in a statement in Jakarta on Saturday.
The programme, carried out by regional police commands and district police across Indonesia, involves congregational dawn prayers, dialogue with religious and community leaders, and messages on public security and order.
At these face-to-face meetings, residents can raise suggestions, complaints and issues that could affect security in their neighbourhoods. The approach complements patrols and law enforcement with preventive measures involving the community.
Police also encourage residents to maintain harmony, look out for one another, remain alert to crime and use social media responsibly.
Residents are urged to report information about potential security threats to officers, their local community police officer (Bhabinkamtibmas), or the police emergency line on 110, so it can be followed up as needed.
“This programme is in line with the National Police Chief’s priorities for maintaining public security and order. We invite all elements of society to preserve harmony, be more attentive to their surroundings and build good communication with the police. This collaboration is important for detecting and preventing potential security threats early,” Isir said.
Polri regards open communication and public involvement as part of maintaining public security and order. By identifying local problems early, police and residents are expected to take preventive action before security disturbances escalate.
Through the continued implementation of ‘Subuh Keliling’, Polri aims to strengthen its partnership with the public through a humane, dialogue-based and preventive approach, helping to create a safe, orderly and stable environment.
