Jakarta (ANTARA) - Metro Jaya Regional Police are still conducting an in-depth investigation regarding the police report against Saiful Mujani concerning allegations of incitement to rebellion by the individual on social media.

“This is still under in-depth investigation related to the police report,” said the Head of Public Relations of Metro Jaya Regional Police, Commissioner Pol Budi Hermanto, in Jakarta on Friday.

Budi stated that the number of reports received by Metro Jaya Regional Police regarding the case has increased to two, but he did not explain who the complainants were.

“We, Metro Jaya Regional Police, have received reports from two complainants related to Article 246 of Law No. 1 of 2023. The second report was received yesterday, around 8 April 2026, at approximately 21.20 WIB,” Budi said.

He emphasised that Metro Jaya Regional Police and the National Police must not refuse reports submitted by the public to the police. Therefore, the report will still undergo investigation and prosecution.

“So, we hope the public also understands what the main duties of the police are in receiving reports from all members of society,” Budi stated.

He also invited the public to be wise together, by not turning the two reports related to criminalisation into issues of SARA (ethnicity, religion, race, and inter-group relations) and politics.

“This will also be investigated by the investigators, and please, colleagues, monitor the investigation and prosecution processes of the cases being handled,” Budi said.

Previously, Metro Jaya Regional Police confirmed the existence of a police report in the name of Robina Akbar from the East Jakarta Community Alliance against Saiful Mujani.

“Yes, it’s true, reported on Wednesday, 8 April 2026, around 21.30 WIB, related to Article 246 of Law No. 1 of 2023,” said the Head of Public Relations of Metro Jaya Regional Police, Commissioner Pol Budi Hermanto, in his statement in Jakarta on Thursday.

However, he could not yet explain in detail the report that has been registered with number LP/B/2428/IV/2026/SPKT/POLDA METRO JAYA, dated 8 April 2026.

Article 246 of Law No. 1 of 2023 contains provisions of the new Criminal Code regulating the criminal offence of public incitement, whether oral or written.
