Police Still Investigating Cause of Fire at Cimuning Bulk LPG Filling Station
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Police are still conducting investigations into the cause of the fire that occurred at the Bulk LPG Filling Station (SPBE) on Cinyosog Street, Cimuning Ward, Mustika Jaya District, Bekasi City, on Wednesday (1/4) night.
“The cause of the fire, which was accompanied by explosions and bursts of flames, is currently under investigation by the Metro Bekasi Police Resort, involving the Forensic Laboratory to determine the cause of the incident,” said the Head of Public Relations of Metro Jaya Police, Police Commissioner Budi Hermanto, in his statement in Jakarta on Thursday.
As a result of the incident, more than a dozen people suffered burns and were evacuated to several hospitals. In addition, the fire also affected residents’ buildings.
“This includes houses, rented rooms, shops, stalls, and scrap warehouses, with several buildings experiencing moderate to severe damage,” he said.
The Bekasi City Government, West Java, has assured that it will cover all medical treatment and care costs for the 14 fire victims in the Cimuning SPBE area, Mustika Jaya District, comprehensively.
He assured that the local government will fully cover all treatment and care costs for the victims, either through the National Health Insurance (BPJS Kesehatan) or other financing schemes.
He assessed that the fire disaster incident had a fairly wide impact, including on residents’ settlements around the location.
“The impacts around here naturally include several affected residents’ houses and approximately 14 victims,” he said.
Although it did not result in any fatalities, the incident caused more than a dozen residents to suffer serious burns, even up to 90 percent.
The fire engulfed the Cimuning SPBE area in Bekasi City on Wednesday (1/4) at 21:30 WIB. The fire was extinguished on Thursday early morning after firefighters from several posts worked together with local residents.
