Police step up cannabis crackdown

MEDAN, North Sumatra: Police in Aceh and North Sumatra this
month are stepping up efforts to wipe out cannabis distribution
in anticipation of the poppy harvest season.

A North Sumatra police source was quoted by Antara yesterday
as saying that the last three months of the year are known as
harvest months for cannabis growers.

In operations which began this week, authorities here have
already seized over a dozen kilograms of cannabis leaves and
