Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Indonesian National Police (Polri) recorded that the Eid exodus traffic is still ongoing until H+1 of Eid al-Fitr Day, on Sunday.

Based on data held by Polri, a total of 2,007,253 vehicles have exited Jakarta or its surroundings, approximately 56.9 percent of the total projection.

Spokesperson for the Public Relations Task Force of Operation Ketupat 2026, Commissioner Police Marupa Sagala, stated that the figure is likely to continue increasing until the end of the day.

In addition, they also recorded several traffic accidents that occurred during the implementation of Operation Ketupat 2026.

A total of 292 traffic accident incidents were recorded, with details of eight people dead, 60 people seriously injured, and 489 people lightly injured, as well as material losses exceeding Rp206 million.

To anticipate an increase in the number of traffic accidents amid the high volume of exodus traffic, Marupa urged the public to remain cautious while driving.

“We urge the public who will be travelling, especially to tourist destinations, to remain cautious and prioritise safety, particularly at water tourism locations such as beaches, rivers, or swimming pools,” he said.

“The public is also urged to take advantage of the work-from-anywhere (WFA) policy so that the return traffic can be carried out gradually and not piled up at one time,” he explained.

In addition, the government is also providing incentives in the form of toll fee discounts that can be utilised by the public to arrange their travel.

“Also take advantage of the toll fee discount policy on 26 to 27 March 2026 so that travel is more efficient and avoids congestion,” he explained.

He hopes that the exodus traffic and the return traffic that will take place over the next few days can run safely and smoothly.
