Police State Haerul Saleh Was with Someone During the Fire

Police have disclosed new facts regarding the fire that claimed the life of Haerul Saleh, a member of Audit Board IV of the Republic of Indonesia’s Financial Audit Board (BPK RI). From preliminary investigations, the fire was observed on the fourth floor of the house.

Nevertheless, South Jakarta Metropolitan Police Resort’s Deputy Head of Public Relations, AKP Joko Adi Wibowo, stated that further investigations are ongoing.

“So the information is, the fire was on the fourth floor. For now on the fourth floor. We will still wait for the team, then afterwards we will know more clearly, and we will report it back,” Joko told reporters on Friday (8/5).

Joko mentioned that the fourth floor was the victim’s workspace. “The fourth floor is the victim’s workspace according to information,” he said.

Joko also revealed that at the time of the incident, the victim was active with someone. However, this is still under further investigation.

“So the information is, the victim was with the helper, engaged in activities. But for more details, of course, we will conduct an investigation,” he stated.

Joko conveyed that a crime scene examination (TKP) is planned, involving identification and forensic laboratory teams from National Police Headquarters.

“Our plan is to jointly process the TKP of this incident to determine what caused the fire,” he said.

Previously, a fire struck a house on Jalan TB Simatupang No 3, Tanjung Barat, Jagakarsa, on Friday (8/5) morning. The incident caused the death of BPK RI member IV, Haerul Saleh.

Head of South Jakarta Fire and Rescue Sub-Directorate, Asril Rizal, said the fire was suspected to have originated from remnants of thinner from house renovations.

“The fire is suspected to have come from remnants of thinner from house renovations,” Asril said in his statement.

Asril noted that the fire was reported to firefighters around 07:53 WIB. Twelve fire trucks and 48 personnel were deployed to the location to extinguish the blaze.

Asril explained that the extinguishing operation began around 08:07 WIB and was declared complete at 08:46 WIB.
