Police State Agency and Employer Knew Domestic Worker Who Jumped from 4th Floor Was Still a Minor

Police have disclosed that the employer and the domestic worker agency knew that one of the workers who jumped from the fourth floor in the Bendungan Hilir area, Central Jakarta, was still a minor. The Head of Public Relations for Metro Jaya Police, Senior Commissioner Budi Hermanto, stated that the agency was aware of the victim’s age from the recruitment process. “From the three suspects, they knew that the person was a child and employed her. From those seeking job vacancies to service providers, including those employing her,” Budi explained to reporters at Metro Jaya Police Headquarters on Friday (8/5/2026). They reportedly accepted the victim directly based only on a family card and a photo. Therefore, the three suspects are charged under Article 76I of Law No. 35 of 2014 on Child Protection regarding the exploitation of minors. “That’s why these three people are subject to criminal charges related to the Child Protection Law,” Budi said. The Head of Criminal Investigation at Central Jakarta Metro Police Resort, AKBP Roby Heri Saputra, said the incident occurred around 11:00 p.m. WIB. “The incident happened last night (Wednesday, 22 April 2026). After the two domestic workers jumped, residents saw the event and immediately helped them,” Roby told Kompas.com on Thursday (23/4/2026). Residents then contacted an emergency ambulance so that the two victims could receive immediate assistance. However, D died after the incident. Meanwhile, R suffered a broken arm and was taken to Mintohardjo Hospital.
