Police Social Sciences Laboratory at Akpol to Utilise AI-Coding, Cadets Required to Master Digital Skills
The Social Sciences Police Laboratory at the Police Academy (Akpol) complex in Semarang, Central Java, will utilise artificial intelligence (AI) features and coding systems. Polri is encouraging Akpol cadets to master digital technology.
“The police social sciences laboratory is already based on AI, coding, and digital technology,” said Deputy Chief of Police Komjen Dedi Prasetyo at the groundbreaking ceremony for the Social Sciences Police Laboratory on Monday (30/3/2026).
Komjen Dedi stated that the police education system must be modern and innovative. Conventional learning methods, he added, would be difficult or unappealing for cadets who are Generation Z or Gen Z.
“We can’t teach cadets conventionally anymore; otherwise, they’ll just fall asleep,” remarked Komjen Dedi.
This former Head of Polri’s Public Relations Division noted that advancing Polri’s educational institutions is a challenge. The progress of Polri education is a shared responsibility.
“This is a challenge and responsibility for all of us,” said Komjen Dedi.
He hopes that advancements in police education institutions can contribute to improving Indonesia’s Human Development Index. Komjen Dedi also hopes for the implementation of a Polri Professionalism Index in the future.
“That’s why Indonesia’s Human Development Index must experience an increase. At Akpol, we will also have a Polri Professionalism Index, which we must measure every year to achieve improvements,” stated Komjen Dedi.
“In the AI era, in the coding era, mathematical abilities and logical thinking are essential. Cadets must be taught accordingly,” he concluded.
