Police shoot fleeing prisoner

BOGOR (JP): Cianjur Police officers arrested four out of eight prisoners who had fled separate locations on Monday evening, police said on Tuesday.

The police shot one of the four fleeing prisoners, Dadang Mustofa, as he attempted to resist police arrest, Bogor Police chief Sr. Comr. Taufiq Ridha said.

"Dadang is a suspect for various robbery and battering cases here. He had already escaped from a police detention cell twice," he said

The other three arrested fleeing prisoners were Dedi Rustana, 38, detained for a theft case, Yoyo Suhyo bin Sahrimi, a 35-year- old-street-musician, detained for guitar theft and Nunung for murder.

Taufiq said Dadang, Nunung and Dedi were arrested on Monday evening in a Gedeh tea-plantation field, while Yoyo was caught sleeping in the house of Dadang's friend in the same area.

"We are still running after the other escapees. We would shoot the fugitives if necessary," he said.

According to Bogor Police detective chief Comr. Budi Prasetyo, the four other fugitives are Ahep, 37, Ajudin bin Dodi, 39, Aban bin Saca, 38 and Kajun bin Odih, 36, who are all allegedly hiding somewhere outside Java. (21)
