Police: Shattered Glass at National Nutrition Agency Office Caused by Heat, Not Shooting

Central Jakarta Metro Police Chief, Senior Commissioner Reynold EP Hutagalung, has refuted claims of a shooting at the National Nutrition Agency (BGN) office in Kebon Sirih, Menteng, Central Jakarta. He stated that the shattered glass panel, images of which circulated online showing cracks and fallen debris on the ground floor, was caused by the recent hot weather. “The glass shattering at the BGN Building is suspected to be due to the high outside temperature contrasting with the air-conditioned interior, causing expansion that led to the breakage,” Reynold said during a confirmation on Thursday. According to information received from the building management, such incidents of glass panels shattering are not uncommon during the hot or dry season. A representative from the building management, identified as Martin, informed the police that this phenomenon typically occurs once or twice a year.
