Police set up team for Freeport case
JAYAPURA, Papua: The National Police have set up a 25-member team to follow up on the findings of the joint police and U.S. Federal Bureau of Investigation probe into the 2002 shooting near the Freeport mine here, an official said.
Papua Police chief Insp. Gen Timbul Silaen said on Friday he had been named to head the team, which will begin work next week.
He said they would pursue the findings of the joint investigation by gathering information on the main suspect, identified as Anthonius Wammang.
"We expect to submit our initial report to headquarters in one month," said Timbul.
