Police Senior Commissioner Yogi Sentenced to 14 Years for Brigadier Nurhadi Murder
Senior Police Commissioner I Made Yogi Purusa Utama has been sentenced to 14 years imprisonment for his role in the murder of Brigadier Muhammad Nurhadi. The panel of judges at the Mataram District Court (PN) found Yogi guilty of homicide and obstruction of justice in the case.
“We hereby sentence the defendant to 14 years imprisonment,” stated the panel of judges, chaired by Lalu Moh Sandi Iramaya, whilst delivering the verdict at PN Mataram on Monday, 9 March 2026.
Sandi noted that Yogi was found guilty of committing murder as stipulated under Article 458 paragraph (1) of Law Number 1 of 2023 on the Criminal Code and Article 221 paragraph (1) of the Criminal Code in conjunction with Article 20 letter a or c of Law Number 1 of 2023 on the Criminal Code.
“We find the defendant legally and convincingly guilty of committing the crime of murder and obstruction of justice or destruction of evidence as outlined in the prosecutor’s indictment,” he added.
The court also imposed an additional penalty requiring Yogi to pay 385 million rupiah in compensation and restitution to Brigadier Nurhadi’s heirs. Should payment not be made within 30 days, Yogi’s assets may be seized and sold to cover the compensation.
“If payment is not made, the defendant shall face an additional two-year prison sentence,” he stated.
The panel of judges ordered that Yogi remain in custody. “The arrest and detention period already served by the defendant shall be deducted from the sentence imposed,” he added.
The verdict matched the prosecution’s demands precisely. Senior Police Commissioner Yogi is being tried alongside Junior Inspector I Gde Aris Chandra Widianto for Nurhadi’s murder.
Brigadier Nurhadi died at Villa Tekek The Beach House Resort on Gili Trawangan on 16 April 2025. He died following a gathering involving alcohol and narcotics with Senior Police Commissioner Yogi, Junior Inspector Aris, and two women named Misri Puspita Sari and Meylani Putri. The two women were reportedly hired by Yogi and Aris. In this case, Misri Puspita Sari has also been designated as a suspect, though her trial has not yet commenced despite her case file being declared complete.
