Police Seize Unusual Items in YTR Torture Case: Machete, Cutter, and IV Bags
Bandung – The arrest of Taufik Hidayat (30) has opened a new chapter in the investigation into the alleged confinement and torture of YTR (29). As the probe deepens, West Java Police have displayed a range of evidence seized from the case that has shocked the public. The array of items has raised many questions, as alongside sharp weapons and cutting tools, police also secured other objects not commonly found in similar cases. These include two black helmets, a backpack, a machete without a handle, a cutter, and a pistol-shaped lighter. Additionally, investigators displayed two empty IV bags along with several medicines that were also taken as evidence. Despite showing these items to the public, police have declined to speculate on their connection to the alleged torture suffered by the victim. West Java Police Head of Public Relations, Commissioner Hendra Rochmawan, stated that investigators are still matching the various findings with the results of examinations of the victim, suspect, and witnesses. “Yes, we are currently investigating this. We are synchronising the evidence, and because we still have synchronisation to do, we cannot convey anything yet,” he told reporters on Wednesday, 24 June 2026. According to Hendra, investigators are not only focusing on physical evidence but are also working to unravel the motive behind the suspect’s actions against the victim. Police want to ensure all revealed facts are strongly connected before making an official statement to the public. “Our position is that we will continue to investigate first. Once it is complete and clear, we will convey further information,” he said. It was previously reported that the flight of Taufik Hidayat, the man suspected of holding and torturing his own girlfriend captive for three years in Bandung, has finally ended. After being a fugitive hunted by a joint team from the West Java Police, the suspect was successfully apprehended. This arrest marks a crucial point in the investigation of a case that has drawn significant public attention, as the victim, YTR, was found in a distressing condition with severe injuries believed to be the result of prolonged violence.
