Police seize stolen wood

SAMARINDA, East Kalimantan: Police in Berau have seized stolen logs worth millions of rupiah in a recent operation aimed at curbing wood thefts.

Operation leader First Lt. Syamsudin said that the police also seized saws but that the owners managed to escape.

He said he expected that the loggers would be back in action as usual after the police stopped their operation. "After we withdraw, villages in the remote areas will be packed with illegal loggers," he said as quoted by Antara.(rms)
