Police seize porno discs

MEDAN, North Sumatra: Police have confiscated thousands of pornographic laser and compact discs from cassette shops and rental outlets, and questioned proprietors.

Col. Wenny Warouw said on Tuesday that pornographic Mandarin and Western movies on 276 laser and compact discs were seized in the operation aimed at upholding intellectual property laws, reported Antara.

Intellectual property law violations may be punishable by up to five years imprisonment, or fines of up to Rp 5 million (US$2,127).

"The cassettes were brought to Medan from Jakarta via an international network," Wenny said. (swe)
