Police Seize Mysterious Safes from De Clan Restaurant Linked to Jampidsus Guarding
REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA — The Head of the National Police’s Anti-Corruption Task Force (Kortas Tipidkor), Inspector General Totok Suharyanto, explained that Wednesday evening’s searches at the De Clan Signature restaurant and Koin Money Changer were part of similar police operations at eight separate locations across Jakarta and West Java. The searches are also suspected to be linked to the reinforcement of TNI troops at the residence of the Deputy Attorney General for Special Crimes (Jampidsus), Febrie Andriansyah.
The two searched locations are situated on Jalan Cipete, Cilandak, South Jakarta, since Wednesday afternoon (8/7/2026). According to Totok, the search at the restaurant was connected to a joint police investigation into a coal governance corruption case.
From the searches at the De Clan restaurant and Koin Money Changer, the investigative team found several items of evidence in the form of safes. Inside the safes were amounts of cash in US and Singaporean dollar denominations. However, the police have not yet calculated the total converted value of the money found at the two locations.
The investigation is also linked to the recent blackouts that occurred in several regions.
“Kortas Polri is currently carrying out a joint investigation scheme with the Criminal Investigation Directorate of the Jakarta Metropolitan Police in handling corruption and money laundering in legal process handling,” said Totok on Wednesday (8/7/2026).
In addition to the corruption case related to the blackouts, the joint police investigation is also probing corruption cases involving ASABRI and Jiwasraya between 2020 and 2025. “It is also related to a money laundering case in the settlement of PT CBS’s debt to PT KNI, which occurred within the jurisdiction of the Jakarta Metropolitan Police,” said Totok.
The Director of Criminal Investigation at the Jakarta Metropolitan Police, Chief Commissioner Victor Dean Mackbon, added that during the investigation, the police team found indications of involvement by state officials.
“The steps we are taking today are efforts to secure evidence at approximately eight locations,” he said. Besides the De Clan restaurant and Koin Money Changer, the police investigation team also conducted searches at several offices in the Pacific Place area of Central Jakarta, as well as at several premises in the Kuningan and Sudirman areas, and in Bogor.
At the same time, the Attorney General’s Office deployed additional personnel from the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) to guard the residence of the Deputy Attorney General for Special Crimes, Febrie Andriansyah. The house, located at Jalan Radio I Number 5, Keramat Pela, Kebayoran Baru, South Jakarta, has been tightly guarded since Wednesday afternoon (8/7/2026) by more than 20 TNI soldiers in uniform and plain clothes.
