Police seize multiple motorcycles without documents during raid in Central Jakarta

The Central Jakarta Metro Police detained a number of motorcycles lacking proper vehicle documents during a Cipta Kondisi (Cipkon) operation held in the early hours of Wednesday. Central Jakarta Metro Police Chief, Senior Commissioner Reynold EP Hutagalung, stated that the stationary operation and area patrols were carried out as a preventive measure to maintain public security and order (kamtibmas). “We continue to conduct patrols and raids as a form of police presence within the community. The aim is to create a safe, orderly, and conducive situation in Central Jakarta,” Reynold said in a statement in Jakarta on Wednesday. He noted that the operation, which ran from 1:00 a.m. to 4:00 a.m. Western Indonesian Time, involved at least 144 combined personnel from the Central Jakarta Police and local sector police. “Officers swept a number of vulnerable points in the Gambir, Tanah Abang, Menteng, Sawah Besar, Kemayoran, Senen, Cempaka Putih, and Johar Baru areas,” Reynold stated. Nevertheless, several two-wheeled vehicles were forced to be transported to the command headquarters because the riders could not present official documents. Reynold stressed the importance of synergy between the police and the community in maintaining environmental security stability. He also urged residents to always obey traffic rules and ensure vehicle documents are complete when travelling. “We invite the public to jointly maintain public order. If you see any potential security disturbance or require police assistance, the public can immediately contact the 110 emergency service,” Reynold said. By the time the operation concluded just before dawn, the security situation within the Central Jakarta Police jurisdiction was reported to be safe, orderly, and conducive.
