Police seize hundreds of dangerous items ahead of Persib vs Persijap match at GBLA Stadium, including firecrackers and alcohol
Bandung, VIVA – West Java Police have seized hundreds of items deemed potentially disruptive to security ahead of the Persib Bandung versus Persijap Jepara match in the Gelora Bandung Lautan Api (GBLA) stadium, Bandung.
Public Relations Head of West Java Regional Police (Polda Jabar) Kombes Pol Hendra Rochmawan said police would take firm action against any violations that could disrupt the match or spectator safety.
‘The items secured include 151 flares, 100 silver strobes, one strong red flare, 11 mercon, 20 petasan, seven bottles of alcohol (miras), and 20 identification cards. The total number of items seized amounts to 310,’ Hendra said in Bandung on Saturday.
He explained checks began at 07:30 WIB, targeting the stands, concourses, and even the stadium restrooms.
From the sweep, officers found hundreds of items deemed dangerous and potentially capable of triggering security breaches during the match.
‘Safeguards are being implemented to ensure the game proceeds safely, in an orderly and conducive manner. We urge all supporters not to bring flares, firecrackers, alcohol or other dangerous items into the stadium area,’ he added.
In addition to the sweeps, thousands of joint personnel were deployed to guard the match and the potential euphoria of Bobotoh outside the stadium.
Furthermore, Hendra noted that 3,391 personnel were on standby to secure the Persib vs Persijap match at GBLA. A further 1,010 personnel were deployed to police the supporters’ euphoria outside the stadium.
For the victory parade security, authorities prepared 2,883 combined personnel.
He added that coordination continues with all relevant parties to anticipate potential security disturbances during the match or celebrations.
‘We hope the public and Bobotoh can cooperate to keep the situation safe and orderly for everyone’s comfort,’ he said. (Ant)
